Ali Guarneros Luna

She manages NASA's Small Satellite Technology Program's Tipping Points initiative and oversees small-satellite (CubeSat-class) projects, directing the engineering work that gets miniature, cost-efficient satellites designed, tested, and flown.

Born in Mexico City, she immigrated to California at age 14. While studying aerospace engineering at San Jose State University, a professor connected her with an internship at NASA Ames, which turned into her career — she went on to serve as Mission Manager for TechEdSat and Deputy Manager for NODES before her current role.

A.S. in Aerospace from San Jose City College; B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from San Jose State University

She started exactly where a Hamptonian AeroPuente student might start — an internship found through a mentor — and turned it into a NASA engineering career, without ever losing her connection to where she came from.
